Konung

Process

Texture has always been one of the core-defining aspects of my body of work, and I'd venture as far as to say in Konung, it's actually the core-defining principle. From the process you can see i went through quite a few different compositions, because this map simply had so many options. In the end i went with this composition of a single mountain range, with the golden glint at the top. I think what especially stood out to me here is the way the shadows enhance the pink petals littering the ground in the foreground makes it seem like a vast city of skyscrapers dispersed between the rivers.
After i landed on the composition, and adjusted the colors, it quickly became apparent that i didn't need to do much for this to closely resemble the palette of the Minecraft mob "Sniffer".
I'd like to think this is the homeland of Sniffers, and the mountain range seen in this image is called "mt. Konung" as it feels very Regal and Majestic. (Konung of course meaning "King" in Swedish)
